More often than not, the water supply valve is positioned between the hot water heater and the supply inlet. After that, select a location to install the precise tank. It should be placed horizontally, because such position provides a smaller amount strain on the pipes.
In case of Amtrol tanks, the installation task is quite easy. Fix the wall mount in the proper position for the expansion tank to install the tank. In maximum cases, the mount hangs on the wall with screws. While you are placing the expansion tank, you must not forget to switch off the power of the water heating system. In case, you are using gas water heater, then you should turn off the gas supply during the process. You need to add a drain hosepipe to the water heating system, and then open the valve to release the pressure. Also open the drain hosepipe on the heating system and let the heater to draw off.
Insert the pipes straight below where you want to locate the tank. You may make use of a rotary cutting instrument on metal pipes or a hacksaw on PEX pipes. After that, measure the tee fitting, and connect it to the expansion tank. Solder the joining point of the tee fitting with the help of a plumber’s torch and make tighter the coupling through accurate wrench.
