General facts about Gaz control valves
Devices such as gaz control valves such as Honeywell SV9501M2528 or Honeywell SV9501M8129 are used in almost any home or building. The gas installations are generally used for heating and cooking, therefore, the fact that the valve will be opened and closed several times a day, is very plausible. Such a high number of usages, requires for gaz control valves to be highly resistant.
Low quality gaz control valves might not support the severity of multiple usages and might be out of use even in the first year after their purchase. Furthermore, the fact that the usage might go unnoticed has to be considered too. In this case, the valve might not close as it should; allowing gas to escape, thus, the probability of an explosion is very high.
Also, some valves might easily crack without notice, even if their usage period is just under a year.
To prevent such things from happening, it is very important to select only high quality items, especially since the items are gaz control valves. High quality gaz control valves are generally more expensive than the low or medium quality ones; however, they come with an extended usage period, and lower probabilities for incidents to occur.
Gaz control valves come in a variety of models and designs, each made for a certain pressure, with a certain size and for a specific type of installation. Many times, gaz control valves are made from strong metals, such as bronze, copper, steel or aluminum. The metal used in manufacturing gaz control valves is generally quite resistant to corrosion and other external factors. In high quality gas valves, the metal used is aluminum or copper, as these two metals provide the strongest resistance to corrosion. High performance gas valves should be able to endure a pressure of 72.5 PSI, and a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius before cracking. However, according to the use of the valve, it can be considered that lower pressures and lower temperatures of resistance may not turn them into low quality products.
But metal and more metal are not all that make a gas valve. Special devices that shut down immediately the gas supply in the event of a fire are also available. Surprisingly, these items are not very expensive in comparison to an ordinary valve, but it is technology that makes the difference. What’s even better, such valves can close the gas supply without the need of human assistance what so ever, and without the use of electrical power, making them very efficient in any type of building.
